VHM for Hybrid & Electric Vehicles

Plug and Play OBD-2 Vehicle Diagnostics
for Hybrid & Electric Vehicles
The wireless on-board diagnostics (OBD-2) VHM for hybrid and electrive vehicles supports all gasoline/electric hybrids and electric vehicles. It logs every vehicle trip and monitors engine health through its use of industry standard OBD-2 protocols.
The plug-and-play micro VHM can be installed easily into the OBD-2 data link connector (DLC) port on a car or light-duty truck. Once installed it begins to monitor and analyze a vehicle's health and performance as soon as the ignition starts.
The VHM is a trip-based monitor with a real-time clock that records:
- Fuel economy and trends
- Real engine idle times
- Mileage
- Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
- Driver behavior
- Out of hours operation
- And more!

Adaptable to support any light duty vehicle
The VHM works with all cars and light duty vehicles manufactured after 1996 and works for a range of different engine types. The hardware for the combustion, hybrid, electric vehicle and secure access ID is the same, but they all use different hardware. The standard was designed to assist in the reduction of vehicle from gasoline powered vehicles but now offers a wide range of diagnostic information.
Vehicle usage monitoring
In adidtion to the diagnostic information collected the VHM also tracks and records valuable utilization information in the form of trip data which includes trip start and end date/time, mileage, accurate idle times, average speed and fuel consumption. This information can be used to get a system wide and vehicle specific view of fleet usage patterns.
The system will record every trip taken and is useful to spot and identify unauhorized out-of-hours vehicle use.
Track vehicle and fleet maintenace
The data collected by the VHM can be used to support automated fleet and vehicle preventive maintenance scheduling. It captures diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) that indicate that immediate engine servicing requirements and it also records intermittent DTCs which can indicate impending maintenance issues.
Monitor safe driver behavior
The VHM also monitors driver specific metrics to observe and report particular driver behaviors including speeding, heavy braking, jack-rabbit acceleration
Interfaces with 3rd party management applications
If you already use a fleet management system you can easily import VHM vehicle usage records into your management application using Prova's VHM XML conversion utility.
